It. Is. Done. (The Roof That Is)
We actually finished the roof over a week ago, I just haven't gotten to updating the blog. My husband asked what I wanted for my birthday? I said, "to finish this stupid roof." Stupid roof finished. In a drizzly rain. On my birthday. But, it is done. Woo hoo!
Before we can get rid of the dumpster, we need to complete the interior demolition. Since this building had been a doctor's office, it is cut up into a bunch of little examining rooms off of the main hallway. This photo may not look like much, but it represents the brute labor of removing 2 of the walls to turn 3 rooms into 1. There's more sheetrock pulling and 2x4 smashing to come before all the walls are down, but it's looking more like a garage already!

The long wait was over! Isn't it such a relief to finally finish your roofing project? You no longer have to worry, even if it rains in the coming days. Did you install your new roof yourselves or did you hire roofing contractors?
ReplyDeleteEmbarrassed to say that I just saw your comment now. We did it ourselves. Phew!
DeleteCongrats for finishing your roof, Terri! It can be frustrating if the job took so long to finish, especially to think that it was drizzling during that time. Anyway, how's it going now?

Embarrassed to say that I'm just seeing your note now! Thanks for the Congrats! The roof performed great during our snowy winter. We've finally(!) moved on to the inside!
DeleteYou really can’t help dealing with distractions while doing a home improving project like this. At first, everything's smooth sailing, but you will encounter some problems right in the middle of doing it. You just really have to be clever when facing such tricky situations. Well, in your case, you did your best to finish this roofing project. Despite the weather, you made sure that everything turned out great!

Embarrassed to say that I just saw your note! It's hard to be clever when it's raining and you're working on a roof!
